After Instagram and Snapchat, the next big social app teenagers are talking about is definitely musical.ly. The mobile app helps them express themselves by creating 15-second videos in which they lipsync and perform to a song or a movie audio clip they like. Alex Hofmann will talk about how they gained 60 million users in less than a year and how they plan to build musical.ly into a fully fledged platform business.

Note: Unfortunately Alex can’t join the FirstScreen personally. For that reason we quickly organized a Skype interview so that we can present you an exclusive video interview with Alex.

10:20 a.m.

On this panel, top executives from four of the largest mobile companies will tackle the state of mobile advertising from a buyer’s point of view. Learn to navigate the maelstrom with their wealth of experience!

Last January, the Dutch football player Demy de Zeeuw posted a 38-second video on Facebook that went viral and reached 19 million views in just a few days. In the video you can see a fast stream of hundreds and hundreds of push nofitications running on the lockscreen of Demy’s smartphone – all of them showing interactions from Instagram users with 433’s account. 433 is a social sports community Demy founded in 2013, with more than 10 million followers. He will talk about building incredible and loyal audiences in the mobile world.

11:55 a.m.

Text has changed the marketing landscape in the early days of digital. Photos are disrupting the way we interact today in feeds. Video is on the rise. How does communication impact the marketing landscape today?

12:15 p.m.

Data is the new oil, as the modern adage goes. But like oil, it is only valuable once refined. How do you extract the insights that drive ROI+? What responsibilities do advertisers, attribution companies, user management platforms and user acquisition solutions respectively bear? And how does fighting fraud come into play? In this panel, top executives from major attribution and analytics companies will debate the nuances – and challenges – of isolating what is truly precious in the mobile data chain.

12:40 p.m.

2:00 p.m.

Dubsmash, a lipsync App developped by three youngsters out of Berlin, gained a massive worldwide user base in a very short amount of time. Rihanna, Hugh Jackman and Clara Delevigne are just a few of the many other celebrity dubsmashers. When Facebook opened up its Messenger to external developers at last year’s F8, Dubsmash was among the first partners. At FirstScreen Conf Suchit Dash, the President of Dubsmash, will talk about how Dubsmash built its success and how they are turning the app into an international business.

2:30 p.m.

Patrick Kane is the founder of Priori Data, a mobile analytics company based in Berlin. The Goal of Priori: Quantifying the App Economy. With its software tool the company helps all parties of the industry gain deep insights about download and earnings of apps and publishers and the developments in different sectors and categories. At FirstScreen Conf Patrick will not only give an exclusive peek behind the curtain of the App Economy, but also summarize its current state and sketch possible developments of the future.

2:50 p.m.

With more than 2 billion smartphones and nearly $400 billion in-mobile-triggered transactions worldwide, the opportunities in app advertising are more promising than ever. But the ecosystem remains a challenging one: App profitability can be eroded by high acquisition costs, the vendor landscape is fragmented, and a lack of common standards hampers seamless data integration across the value chain. In this session, Tim Koschella, CEO and Founder of AppLift, will take an uncompromising look at the state of our industry, and describe how to transform these challenges into the rich opportunities for those who will define tomorrow’s best practices.

3:10 p.m.

In this presentation, Eric Seufert, a partner at mobile marketing agency and consultancy Heracles, outlines a framework for optimizing user acquisition for a portfolio of apps. Prior to Heracles, Eric was the VP of User Acquisition and Network Engagement at Rovio, the developer behind Angry Birds. While at Rovio, Eric developed a programmatic cross promotion algorithm that, for some games, more than doubled the number of outbound installs to Rovio’s own games generated by cross promotion ads. In addition, he developed a new cross promotion placement that increased the number of impressions served per day with no significant decrease in CTRs. Eric will walk through these two projects as well as introduce a novel way of thinking about portfolio LTV that allows for user acquisition teams to approach users‘ lifetime beyond their experience in just one app.

3:30 p.m.

4:00 p.m.

Starting in 2018, companies doing business in the EU will be subject to the world’s strongest data protection requirements – violations of which could result in fines equal to 4% of global annual revenues. The law – which was the focus of an unsuccessful lobbying effort by Google, Facebook and others – has huge implications for cloud computing generally and mobile in particular. Among other things, the new law categorizes data used for marketing or advertising purposes as “high-risk” processing – and as such, will most certainly impact how you use, store and share data on your users.  Learn more about these important changes, and what you can start doing now to get ready.

4:20 p.m.

It is generally agreed that programmatic is the future of advertising: It’s efficient, scales easily, can incorporate new data in seconds, and doesn’t need to take weekends off. But before all the players in this value chain can ride off in glory, we still have to address a few hurdles – like the lack of common standards, difficulty scaling for performance advertisers, and the limitations of available data. On this panel, luminaries from major adtech companies will take an unflinching look at our current programmatic landscape and discuss how to improve automated buying across the industry.

4:45 p.m.

Pablos Holman has a unique view into breaking and building new technologies. He works on a variety of invention projects, including a machine to suppress hurricanes and a system to reverse global warming. Pablos will change the way you think about your limits. He recently spoke at the Google Zeitgeist conference, the World Economic Forum, and the United Nations.

5:20 p.m.

Data, they say, is to the 21st century what oil was to the 20th. But, as is the case with oil, unrefined data is worthless. In this workshop, Ermanna Maiuri, Head of Programmatic Media at AppLift, will use a live demo of the DataLift platform to present how your data can be leveraged to optimize your programmatic campaigns. She will go over the many optimization levers available on the platform and show you how to manage an optimal campaign set up.
